Venue Sector Technical Director | Venue Sector Convention Center Practice Director
As a kid, Russ dreamed of being an architect, spending countless hours and untold sheets of graph paper drawing up houses and small building plans. Those small squares provided boundaries and structure that made it clear over time that Russ’s true calling was to work in service of architecture, through building systems engineering. Russ’s career has been focused on complex healthcare and venue work for decades, with a hiatus to focus on molding the minds of future designers as a Kansas State University professor. Coming back home to Henderson in 2016, Russ has since focused on convention centers and similar venues, helping Henderson to build arguably the strongest national MEP resume in stand-alone convention centers in the country.

Now as the venue sector technical director and convention center practice director, Russ is focused on two simple goals – highlighting Henderson’s commitment and dedication to engineering excellence and industry-leading thought leadership in high-capacity venues, and helping Henderson bring to market community changing and enlivening convention center spaces. An architectural enthusiast at heart, Russ is committed to supporting the vision of our clients with engineering solutions that are in service of the architecture they bring to life and balance with the environments and resources they draw from. The aspiration, every day, is to do good work. For our clients. For our people. For our communities.
