Gerald J. Ford Stadium's Garry Weber End Zone Complex - Southern Methodist University

The Garry Weber End Zone Complex redefines Southern Methodist University’s football operations and gameday experience. Located strategically to complete the south bowl of Gerald J. Ford Stadium, it seamlessly connects east and west gate access, improving pedestrian accessibility and enhancing guest experience. Team Henderson worked alongside project partners to deliver a custom design emphasizing innovative health and wellness facilities.

We led the system design for a sustainable, three-level complex built to optimize athletic performance, operational efficiency, and provide premium hospitality to visitors. At field level, the 18,000 SF facility houses a state-of-the-art weight room, hydrotherapy and sports medicine areas, a modern locker room, and a players lounge. The second floor features vibrant indoor and outdoor dining and entertainment spaces catering to both athletes and fans. Private spaces like the luxurious mini suites, the Letterwinners Lounge, and coaches' offices are located on the third floor.

Our team developed a flexible design process that adapted to last-minute changes, equipment delays, and scheduling setbacks, resulting in a complex that will inspire generations to come while maintaining the 25-year-old Collegiate Georgian architecture and infrastructure customary to SMU’s campus. With a focus on sustainability, comfort, and accessibility, the design ensures the facility not only meets the needs of today’s athletes and fans but is built to evolve with SMU’s long-term college football vision.
