Henderson Participates in Lead to Read KC Give Back Event

KMBC 9

Henderson Engineers recently partnered with Hollis + Miller Architects for a volunteer effort in support of Lead to Read KC, a Kansas City (KC), Mo., nonprofit that promotes literacy within underserved communities. Seventeen representatives from the two firms visited George Melcher Elementary School for one-on-one reading exercises with fourth grade students. The group read “Someone Builds the Dream” by Lisa Wheeler, a book that explores various occupations within the built environment, exposing students to careers within science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
