Using the concept of Visual Impact as a common denominator, the presentation is intended to be more than just an exploration of lighting design fundamentals, but the application of theory to real world dynamics. Though architecture and lighting design share a design language, lighting has the distinct advantage of deviating from the boundaries of the physical environment. As a science and art, lighting design has the unique ability to manipulate spatial characteristics of architecture and through the use of concepts and language, tools and technology, lighting design can either visually dominate or be subservient to the architectural world.
