Sunset Coffee Building Restoration Sunset Coffee Building Restoration

Built in 1910, the Sunset Coffee Building is a beautifully restored three-story brick warehouse that once again serves as Houston’s “front door” to downtown, welcoming visitors to the bustling and historic Allen Landing. Formerly the annex to W.D. Cleveland & Son’s, a wholesale grocer supplier, the century-old structure is now home to 12,000 square feet of office and retail.

To realize this vision, Henderson Engineers led a conceptual analysis to determine how to take this building from an antiquated structure to a model for sustainability. Through a creative systems design process, we led the implementation of high SEER building cooling systems, rainwater harvesting for grey water use, specific exhaust system for VOC, and an energy building management and light control system.

Henderson and team LEED administrators are currently seeking LEED Silver certification for this Houston landmark.
