The fifth-largest school district in the country, Clark County School District is known for educating more than 75 percent of all students in Nevada. Working towards future expansion, the district engaged Henderson Engineers to provide design services for numerous upgrades and additions. Henderson designed two prototypes for the district — a 14-classroom addition and an 18-classroom addition.
Several components of the prototype are a district first, including a mechanical system with a scalable, energy efficient, and low maintenance variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems for the HVAC units. The projects also include LED fixtures, classroom daylighting, and occupancy sensors. In addition, the low voltage design includes data cabling, wireless access points, fiber to the telecommunications room, CCTV cameras, intrusion alarm, and an audio-video projection system. The Henderson team has completed building systems design for more than 15 Clark County schools to date with more than five schools scheduled for design within the couple years.
