Tinley Park Convention Center

Henderson Engineers provided architectural lighting design for the $22 million renovation to this 70,000 SF convention center and a 50,000 SF expansion which adds more convention space, state-of-the-art meeting rooms, and multi-functioning exhibit halls. To accommodate the city’s requirements for exhibit functions, weddings, graduations, and city events, the lighting in the halls incorporated a solution that offers the most light-level flexibility. Since the project involved a portion of existing building, the design connected the old façade with the new façade. Large glass boxes demarcate major entries, using graphics and posters from the city’s founding to bring a sense of history to this modern structure. At night, the illumination focuses on the architectural frame and an interior volume of light to express liveliness within the convention center. The city aspired to have the renovated convention center be a bold, new image to the city of Tinley Park. The nighttime lighting treatment did just that while also creating a welcoming experience and sense of civic pride.
