Leading the way is not a new concept for Helen Herr Elementary School and when they partnered with Henderson Engineers to bring their students a more energy efficient building that requires less maintenance, they succeeded in doing so. For the first time in the school district’s history, a new VRF system and wood frame construction was included in this 14-classroom addition build-out. This new VRF system was something we were advocates for, especially since the installation of it meant funds previously spent on running the building could now be rerouted towards the educational needs of the students.
Further electrical and technology systems design services were also provided to include even more sustainable features such as LED fixtures, daylight and occupancy sensors, and a upgrade to the clock intercom PA system. Helen Herr is staying true to their mission by setting an example in being energy efficient and equipping their students to lead the way in today’s world.
