Henderson Engineers provided building systems design for the KIPP Academy of Innovation which is now home to nearly 500 students. The school features 16 classrooms, as well as spaces for music, dance, art, and robotics. There are two special education rooms, a double-height, multipurpose room, and offices for administration.

Because of the variety of learning spaces, the KIPP Academy of Innovation needed a mechanical system that provides zoning and flexibility for different spaces. As a solution, Henderson utilized a variable refrigerant system with a dedicated outside air unit that also works with the project budget, projected utility costs, and future maintenance needs of the school. We’re helping design a collaborative learning environment to help students stay ahead of the class today, and get the skills, habits, and characteristics they need, for success tomorrow.
