Anderson County Critical Access Replacement Hospital - St. Luke’s Health System

Part of Saint Luke’s Health System, Anderson County Hospital is one of the nation’s top critical access hospitals, according to the National Rural Health Association for 2018. Henderson Engineers designed the building systems for this award-winning, new hospital that replaced the original facility built in 1949. The single-story, 10-bed hospital included an emergency department, two operating rooms, a CT scan and x-ray areas, mammography and ultrasound, a laboratory and pharmacy, a rehab/therapy department, and an outpatient specialty clinic.

The HVAC airside system consists of five VAV air handlers that individually serve the following areas: one for the I2-occupancy area, two for the B-occupancy area, and one each for the two operating rooms. The cooling system consists of a roof-mounted, air-cooled chiller, and the heating system includes high-efficiency hot water boilers and self-contained steam humidifiers and sterilizers. The standby emergency power is comprised of one diesel generator located exterior to the building in a weather-proof enclosure. This updated hospital modernized the healthcare infrastructure in the region allowing a better quality of care for the community and a wider range of services.
