The Kansas City Business Journal has named Henderson Engineers one of the Best Places to Work in the Kansas City, Mo., region. The designation is part of an annual program that selects the best local workplaces largely based on employee feedback gathered through an extensive confidential survey. Henderson is one of only six firms to receive the honor among extra large employers, which includes companies with more than 501 local employees.

“We’re thrilled to be named one of the best places to work in our hometown,” said Mindy Garrett, chief people officer at Henderson. “Despite the disruptions the pandemic continues to have on businesses of all sizes, we’ve remained resilient given the enthusiasm and dedication of our employees. It’s amazing to see career satisfaction remain strong thanks to great people and a workplace culture that is welcoming and rewarding.”

Garrett also credited the Best Places to Work accolade to various employee benefits that were recently introduced. They include:

• Floating holiday pay, which provides employees with an additional 16 hours of paid holiday leave every year to use as they see fit.
• A new complimentary employee fitness center next to the company’s headquarters to promote physical wellness.
• A $500 stipend to each employee to help offset expenses garnered from maintaining a work-from-home space during the pandemic.
• Permanent hybrid work schedules as part of the company’s 2022 return-to-work plan. Employees will only be required to report to the office three business days a week at their discretion. Continuing to work remotely full time will be an option upon approval.
• A new behavioral health initiative to help address stress, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and more. The initiative provides a variety of resources and tools including online therapy (chat, phone, and video), online self-guided tools, and group workshops.
• Complimentary access to various online financial resources to help ensure employees are on secure financial footing. This includes private access to financial coaches.
