Henderson Engineers was listed in a Kansas City Business Journal article by Lily Lieberman about the expansion of AdventHealth (formerly Shawnee Mission Health) South Overland Park. The $150 million project in the Bluhawk mixed-use development will produce an 85-bed hospital and create nearly 200 full-time jobs in the Kansas City area. The expansion plans include a new birth center, surgical services, heart care, an intensive care unit, and more.
Other members of the design team include HKS Architects, GE Johnson Construction Company, BDC, Olsson Associates, and Ochsner Hare & Hare.
AdventHealth South Overland Park — which opened in 2017 — is home to an emergency department, women’s imaging center, laboratory, and medical office building. Primary care, physical therapy and physician specialties are offered, including cardiology, neurosurgery, endocrinology, gastroenterology, and dermatology.
Previously, the campus was an outpatient facility with a nine-bed emergency department. It will now expand to a 193,000-square-foot hospital designed to offer patients access to a full suite of hospital and emergency services.
