Turning Climate Pledges into Decarbonization Plans
COURSE OVERVIEW
This course presents an overview of decarbonization trends and how carbon reduction relates to the built environment planning process. Attendees will be introduced to current and upcoming sustainability legislation, the relationship between carbon as a design metric and the decarbonization planning process, and key strategies for AEC design professionals to integrate during decarbonization planning. Sustainability and decarbonization in the built environment present the greatest design challenge of a generation. This course will prepare attendees in understanding and preemptively planning projects using the latest information and techniques available to ensure project success. This course introduces attendees to the best practices associated with measuring and tracking GHG emissions and planning strategies that help organizations turn plans into action.LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Identify decarbonization trends and legislation that are impacting the AEC Industry
- Understand the dynamic relationship between energy use, efficiency, and carbon emissions and how they can shape design and planning strategies
- Discuss decarbonization strategies and opportunities to consider during the planning process
- Identify incentives and key metrics to generate in the planning process that help turn a decarbonization plan into action
