IECC 2021: Updates and Implications for Your Design
COURSE OVERVIEW
This course identifies the updates and additions in energy code for IECC 2021. It will cover the revisions and additional requirements for building envelope design their impact on construction type and site location. It will outline the requirements and how they are best applied and identify how to address potentially conflicting requirements in the code. Various types of facilities will be discussed. This course will also explore the “why” behind the code’s requirements for type of construction, which impact the project layout, function, and construction cost.LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Understand the key differences in the latest IECC 2021 (energy code) updates that will affect architects, engineers, owners, and contractors

- Introduce the newest energy code addition/requirement: Commissioning. Provide oversight of what systems need to be commissioned and the impact it has on projects and for owners
- Provide innovative solutions and approaches to meet the new energy code updates during design and while in construction
PREREQUISITE KNOWLEDGE
A basic working knowledge of, and experience with, the IECC and previous energy code requirements. This includes envelope design and building systems. This course is appropriate for those serving as project managers and project architects.
