On Sept. 8, a Kroger grocery store in Spring, Texas will open, marking the first Kroger new store project designed by Henderson Engineers. This store covers 103,000 square feet and commemorates our first project with CR Architecture.
“The design approach was unique because it included a grocery SWAT team,” Vice President and Director of Refrigeration Tony Welter said. “There was a considerable amount of grocery design knowledge gained by all members of the team. Throughout this project, we built positive relationships with key Kroger and CR Architecture employees. Internally, QEV team members John Varberg, Doug Henderson, and Sean Eisler were able to mentor up-and-coming and experienced Henderson grocery designers on this project.”
In addition to Varberg, Henderson, and Eisler, Jen Jewers-Bowlin, Dean Chandler, Greg Harris, Brett King, James McCarty, Ethan Nichols, Casandra Peters, Nick Schultz, and Chad Van Velde all played an integral part in the successful design of this Kroger store.
“This was the first grocery MEP design project for our team,” Welter noted. “It has led to more work of the same nature. I am very proud of our team for all their hard work and look forward to future projects of this kind.”
