Verizon

Henderson Engineers is providing mechanical, electrical and plumbing design services for Verizon Wireless retail stores nationwide, many of which have earned either LEED® Gold, LEED Silver or LEED Certifications with numerous others currently registered and under review by the USGBC. All the Verizon Wireless stores are designed under LEED CI with the hopes of meeting Volume Certification for Retail when it becomes available. Key components of these approximately 3,500 SF stores include a sales floor, display fixtures, security systems, cash-wrap area, offices and a storage area. Verizon Wireless store locations vary from stand-alone sites to shopping centers to malls.

The electrical system for Verizon Wireless includes a 400A distribution panel serving two lighting and power panels. Special display lighting as well as strategically placed receptacles are controlled via relays and contactors in series with a master switchbank. The lighting layout includes track light, down lighting, and show windows, all of which must comply with increasingly complex energy codes. The electrical design also incorporates coordinating with security systems, anti-theft and audio-video components. In addition, the mechanical system consists of rooftop units and a split system to serve the technology room. Henderson has designed over 581 stores since 2004, 237 LEED stores, 100 which have been LEED certified, and around 130 smaller Verizon projects. Henderson has designed the following three Destination Stores, a new concept store for Verizon:
