Jagalchi Korean Food Complex
The Jagalchi Korean Market opened its flagship U.S. location in early 2025, bringing an immersive Korean food experience to the San Francisco Bay Area. More than just a grocery store, it’s a cultural destination blending culinary tradition, retail, and hospitality under one roof. Together with our sister company, Henderson Building Solutions, we provided full MEP, fire protection, and commissioning services to help bring this vision to life.
The former retail space was reimagined to support everything from specialty kitchens to a Michelin-starred restaurant. We installed a low-GWP CO₂ refrigeration system and a specialized HVAC system to maintain precise humidity levels – critical for providing fresh ingredients. Our team overhauled the electrical system, added wireless lighting controls, and integrated new plumbing for water, waste, and grease management. Wireless lighting control systems were integrated for greater flexibility and energy efficiency, while a desiccant-based dehumidification system was implemented to maintain a precise environment, ensuring efficiency and top quality product.
Web-based refrigeration and HVAC monitoring tools enable Mega Mart’s leadership team in South Korea to oversee operations remotely, ensuring consistency across all locations around the world. Sustainability was central to every design move, including electrification and energy-efficient systems, resulting in a reduced reliance on fossil fuels.
As the first of its kind, the Jagalchi Korean Market is seen as a cultural milestone for the San Francisco area, teams from both Korea and the U.S. successfully collaborated, creating a central gathering space for Asian culture.
