KC Current, of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), is the first team in the world to build a dedicated, professional women's stadium. Located in Kansas City, Missouri at Berkley Riverfront Park, the stadium will be part of a larger development. With views of the river and city from the stands, the city is bursting with excitement, as a new path is paved for women's professional sports. The stadium has capacity for 11,500 fans, for games as well as other events like concerts and shows, with premium hospitality and seating options.
Henderson Engineers staffed a women-led team of engineers for the project, providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, acoustics, architectural lighting, energy modeling, and low voltage services. Henderson believes in the strengths and diversity of our team members, which has resulted in more than 60% of the design leads on the project being female. The stadium features a natural turf pitch with sports lighting features that meet NWSL standards. The project is seeking LEED certification with water and energy efficient designs as well as multi-modal transportation options for stadium goers.
