Henderson Engineers donated $10,000 to Harvesters – The Community Food Network in Kansas City last week in the lead up to Thanksgiving. The food bank provides food and other sustenance-related support to charitable agencies including emergency food pantries, community kitchens, homeless shelters, children’s homes, and more. Henderson’s proceeds will go toward these efforts.

“It’s an honor and privilege to help make a difference in people’s lives this holiday season in partnership with a wonderful organization like Harvesters,” said Rich Smith, Henderson’s president and CEO. “This is crucial given the effects of the pandemic, which is especially tough on those who are disadvantaged within our communities. Our company’s official vision is to build a better world, which applies to both the building systems we design and the impact we have on society.”

Henderson’s ties with Harvesters goes back two and a half decades. The company’s founder was passionate about giving back to the nonprofit and the tradition has held strong through the years with Henderson providing funding, volunteering, and participating in food drives on behalf of Harvesters on an annual basis.

“Harvesters has been dear to our hearts for 25 years and we’re committed to keeping that going for decades to come,” explained Smith. “We’re blessed to be able to continue to support all the good they do within our hometown and beyond.”

Henderson’s donation was facilitated through the Henderson Foundation, the firm’s nonprofit arm. Since its inception 16 years ago, the foundation has provided millions of dollars to support various charitable initiatives focused on education and STEM, arts and culture, environment and sustainability, health and human services, community service, and disaster relief.
