Henderson Vegas Honored With NAIOP Spotlight Award

The Henderson Engineers Las Vegas office recently received the NAIOP (Commercial Real Estate Development Association) Southern Nevada Chapter Spotlight Award for Small Office Tenant Improvement. The recognition was for the firm’s involvement with a new office space – The Wishing Place – for Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada. The new office for the nonprofit is located on the Allegiant Airlines campus in Summerlin, Nevada.

Henderson provided pro bono mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design in partnership with Martin–Harris Construction on the project.

Mike-A-Wish Southern Nevada has granted more than 1,800 wishes for children battling life-threatening illnesses since 1996. The nonprofit moved into its new office in early 2017. The new space furthered the organization’s mission to grant wishes to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. Allegiant offered free rent along with the space.

“The Wishing Place is a game-changer for us,” said Caroline Ciocca, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish of Southern Nevada. “It’s a place that tells the Make-A-Wish story and the impact a wish has on kids who are experiencing the toughest battle of their lives. Our wish kids, their families, our volunteers, and donors now come to The Wishing Place to stay connected to our mission.”

Sami Twainy, a mechanical engineer for Henderson that was a member of the design team, described the intrinsic reward she experienced after working on the project.

“Getting recognition for our involvement with an award-winning design and construction team is really rewarding,” Twainy said. “It feels even better that it was for such a worthy cause. Martin–Harris has been such a supportive partner, and that really helps us develop successful projects together.”

Giving back is part of the Henderson Engineers core values. Each Henderson employee receives eight paid hours to volunteer each year.
