UH2 Facility - University Health UH2 Facility - University Health

A partner of University Health, formerly known as Truman Medical Center, Henderson Engineers provided building systems design services for the demolition and new construction of a parking garage and medical office building, University Health II. Connected to Truman's Hospital Hill campus, the facility offers more than 70 exam rooms and is home to primary care as well as women's health services.

Noteworthy to the timeline of this project was the high level of collaboration during this and other concurrent Henderson/University Health projects, including a boiler/chiller replacement, pharmacy renovation lab renovation, LDRP/NICU renovation, and an electrical infrastructure project. Team members from all projects met on a regular basis to ensure the solutions we were offering were integrated and well-coordinated. The project also included enclosed bridges which connect the new garage to the new facility, and the new facility to the University Health I medical office building.

Our team provided drawings in accordance with State of Missouri rules and regulations as well as code and life safety support throughout construction administration. The telecommunications infrastructure design included a structured cabling system to support voice and data connectivity throughout the facility. The electronic physical security system included video surveillance, access control, and emergency phone call box locations. As a teaching hospital, Truman had a vision of creating a space that could expand alongside their clinical practices. With proper infrastructure support in place, the building has the potential to add 49,000 SF to accommodate any future endeavors of the medical center.
