With more than 140 international locations and a strong fan base, it was time for the UK-based noodle chain, Wagamama, to open their first New York outpost. Considered their NY Flagship location, this Wagamama is minutes away from the Flatiron Building and right across the street from Madison Square Park.

Occupying the basement and first floor of an 11-story high-rise, Wagamama’s building systems were designed to serve a bar and two separate kitchens. With one of the kitchens located in the basement and an open kitchen on the ground floor our team carefully designed for closely spaced sprinklers to meet NYC requirements. To maintain the architectural integrity of the original coffered brick ceilings, a high level of coordination ensured the ductwork and mechanical units remained hidden within the tight ceiling heights while also adequately serving the space.

Henderson Engineers worked with the building and utility provider to install a new 1200 amp 3-phase service to accommodate the restaurant’s service requirements. We also aided with coordinating and negotiating with the landlord and utility provider to extend natural gas to the tenant space.

With a philosophy to change for the better in all that they do, we’re proud to have partnered with the Wagamama team in upholding their high standards to create their NY legacy.
