Henderson Engineers worked with Areas USA on four new dining spaces as part of the Terminal 1 Modernization Project at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Constructed in 1984, Terminal 1 is home to 15 gates and is served exclusively by Southwest Airlines. In 2014, Southwest served more than 8 million departing and arriving passengers in this terminal.

Area’s vision is to offer Southwest travelers an array of restaurants that deliver “a taste of California.” These restaurants are mindful of offering gluten free and vegetarian options as well as using locally sourced ingredients. The four new eateries include:

Reilly’s Irish Pub: Inspired by Rock & Reilly’s Irish Pub in Hollywood, this bar offers customers a vast selection of whiskey along with multiple big screens for their viewing pleasure.
California Pizza Kitchen (CPK): A Los Angeles based casual restaurant with innovative pizza combinations, pasta, salads, sandwiches, and dessert on their menu.
Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf: This coffee chain’s roots were born in Southern California with Brentwood being their first location. Coffee Beans is known for their Original Ice Blended coffee.
Deli & Co: A propriety brand for Areas, this delicatessen offers grab and go options such as sandwiches, wraps, flatbreads, and salads.
