With a desire to implement 21st century learning spaces into the school, the Raymore-Peculiar school district needed systems that were flexible and adaptable to accommodate current learning and teaching styles. The renovation included upgrades to the school’s kitchen, multi-purpose room, concessions area, lobby, administration office, and back stage storage area in the theater. The 2-story addition of classrooms, media center, and culinary arts classrooms, allowed the school’s capacity to increase to 2,200 students. The addition also features a freshman center learning area with maker space labs, freshman administrative offices, and classrooms.
Along with mechanical and electrical systems design, Henderson Engineers designed a television distribution system to extend television signals to spaces in the new addition. Our security systems design expanded upon the access control, visual surveillance, intrusion, and entrance intercom. The audio-video design provided sound systems suitable for athletic and assembly events in the gymnasium, a projector/screen system that adapts to high ambient light conditions and computer connectivity in the media center, and an overhead camera with an associated video monitor for the family, consumer science and culinary classrooms, and flat panel and front projector/screen displays with connectivity to teacher computers for seamless streaming capabilities.
