Henderson Engineers provided building systems design for the expansion of the Johnson County's Northeast Office Criminalistics Laboratory. The design scope included HVAC, power, lighting, fire protection, uninterruptible power supply, laboratory exhaust, emergency power, and utilities.

The expanded laboratories included prep areas, DNA testing rooms and miscellaneous support spaces.  The building utilities (chilled water, boilers, power, UPS, etc.) were expanded to accommodate the new areas. A dedicated boiler was installed to serve the crime lab during summer months when the building boilers were off line.

While reviewing the existing laboratory systems, our team discovered inadequacies in the existing outside air intakes and laboratory exhaust systems. These items were redesigned and corrected as part of the project.

We were responsible for feasibility studies, cost estimating, conceptual design, design development, construction drawings, specifications, bidding phase services, and complete construction administration.
