Holton Elementary School - Holton USD 336 Holton Elementary School - Holton USD 336

The need for more space, energy-efficient heating and cooling, improved security, and better access to new technology for teachers and students led the Holton USD 336 to close two existing elementary schools and to construct Holton Elementary School. Henderson Engineers incorporated a 4-pipe chiller system throughout the school to provide durability and help the school save on energy costs. Flexible systems were used in the classrooms, learning parks, and commons area so students and staff could adapt the different spaces to their needs. The facility also features a gymnasium, library, high wind shelter, a secure main entrance, and modern technology and security systems.

With input from the district, our team also designed the telecommunications and electronic security systems infrastructure including cabling and passive components to support voice and data communication. The technology specifications included network switches, wireless access points, and controllers. The electronic physical security system design included video surveillance, intrusion detection, duress alarm, access control, and limited video intercom system. Henderson also prepared drawings and specifications for the sound, audio-video, and television distribution systems for educational use in classrooms, the gymnasium, music and band rooms, common areas and to collaborate from multiple areas around the school. Scope included construction administration services and commissioning of the sound and audio-video systems.
