Henderson Engineers has been a partner to the AdventHealth Shawnee Mission main campus in Merriam, Kan., for nearly two decades. So when the provider needed a new emergency department and imaging center for expansion in a local suburb, they chose Henderson Engineers to design the building systems for the project.

Our team used a phased approach to incorporate multiple buildings to deliver inpatient and outpatient services, and carefully considered how current designs would work with later phases.

Phase I saw the development of a new emergency department, lab and imaging center, as well as a generator system, boilers, propane back-up fuel, medical gas systems, and additional piping and connection points for future phases.

The new emergency department and imaging center reinforce AdventHealth’s commitment to making compassionate healthcare accessible. As the health system continues to expand – across Kansas City and the region – Henderson will keep designing systems that meet the needs of AdventHealth today and can scale for tomorrow.
