S.B. Ballard Stadium Renovation - Old Dominion University

Drawing on recommendations from the 2016 fan survey to develop much of the project scope, renovations to S.B. Ballard Stadium were focused on the end user from day one. Renovations to this 81-year-old stadium included replacement of the east and west stands, addition of more amenities, increased legroom throughout the bowl, and a pre-game plaza, new press box, and sports lighting.

As a national building systems design firm with experience in similar renovations, Henderson Engineers was included as part of the design team. Taking the project through design development and then staying on as a peer and resource through the remainder of the project, Henderson worked closely with the contractor to align design intent with budget and systems and to confirm design decisions were made in alignment with project completion goals that would keep this project on its ambitious construction schedule.
