THRIVE — Multigenerational Center - City of Lewisville THRIVE — Multigenerational Center - City of Lewisville

When the City of Lewisville established their City Vision Plan for 2025, first on the list was this multi-generational recreation center. The building provides a welcoming crossroads for all ages, preferences, and abilities throughout the community.

As part of the project team, Henderson Engineers focused on providing building system design solutions to enhance the end user’s experience and reach the city’s sustainability goals. Spaces within this facility include locker rooms, gymnasiums, indoor walking track, fitness areas, fitness studios with acoustical ceilings, party rooms, community rooms with stages, arts and crafts, indoor playground with child watch, dedicated senior activity space, catering kitchen, and community patio.

The new rec center features an indoor natatorium complete with a lazy river, lap pool, zero entry, play features, and three enclosed slides. Since this was Lewisville’s first indoor pool, our engineers helped educate facility operators on the recommended design specifications within a natatorium environment.

Henderson Engineers worked closely with the architect, incorporating lighting to serve both the building aesthetics and as a medium to help with wayfinding. One of the unique lighting features is a Dichroic Wall within the natatorium. The installation for this feature was scheduled during the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic, so the design team worked with the onsite staff to successfully complete aiming via a Zoom call including more than 11 people from Denver, Albuquerque, Kansas City, and Lewisville.

Always focused on helping our client’s reach their full potential, we’re proud to be part of helping Lewisville thrive for generations to come.
