At Henderson Engineers, imagination isn’t limited to the big screen. Our team of entertainment experts and film enthusiasts worked alongside Kerasotes Theaters, a legendary movie theater company, to help reimagine the next generation of film houses. Blending Kerasotes’ decades of industry experience with Henderson’s unique approach to building systems design led to the unveiling of ShowPlace ICON Theatres – a new standard in luxury entertainment.
To achieve Kerasotes’ vision for this new brand of upscale theaters, Henderson assembled a team of experts specializing in acoustics and noise control, architectural lighting analysis, energy modeling, and fire and life safety. Henderson Building Solutions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Henderson Engineers, also commissioned several ShowPlace ICON locations to ensure peak performance of systems on opening day.
The most recent addition to Henderson’s portfolio with Kerasotes is the Showplace ICON theater at Westfield Valley Fair in San Jose, California. Spanning more than 60,000 square feet, this site is unrivaled in quality and design representing a premier Silicon Valley theater destination. Westfield Valley Fair features 10 auditoriums, ranging from the 281 seat ICON•X premium large-format room to a more intimate 86-seat auditorium; accommodating more than 1,400 guests. In addition to heated, reclining leather seats, moviegoers can also enjoy an all-laser projection and advanced Dolby sound systems, designed by our audio-video systems design team.
Henderson is working to bring to life other Showplace ICON sites in locations across the country, including Chicago, Minneapolis, Boston, and Northern Virginia.
