Henderson Engineers provided mechanical and electrical design services for the renovation and addition to an existing university performing arts center at Graceland University. The building currently houses a large performance auditorium, classrooms, studios and administrative support areas. The addition provided a new art gallery, event space, black box theatre and a recital hall. Additionally, the existing classrooms and offices were renovated. Some existing air handlers and mechanical equipment were replaced and some new units were installed to serve the addition. The steam line serving the building from the central plant was upgraded. In addition, a new chilled water line from the central plant was routed to the building and a pump added to supplement existing pumps. The existing heating hot water system, which was at the end of its useful life, was replaced.
