Henderson Engineers conducted this Pittsburgh Steelers renovation with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design services for this $5.5 million, 2,000 SF retrofit of the existing scoreboard control room and addition of video boards throughout Heinz Field. This work included extensive site and scope meetings to detail the existing conditions and deliver an integrated solution within the existing confines of the room. The HVAC design addressed some of the existing problems by providing both enough cooling for the equipment and a comfortable environment for the individuals running the stadium AV system. Henderson worked with Daktronics and the AV consultant to analyze the existing scoreboard system and provide the necessary power and infrastructure changes to accomplish the client’s needs. To minimize cost and impact to the space, fire protection components included re-designing the chemical agent system for the room to work with the existing system.
