Part of the Saint Luke’s Health System, Hedrick Medical Center provides quality healthcare to Livingston County, Missouri, and its surrounding communities. As the area around Hedrick Medical Center has grown, so has the need for additional services and technology upgrades to the original 1972 structure. The plan was to not only build a new facility connecting to the old to ensure continuity of care, but also expand services by adding on a new 20,000 SF medical office building adjacent to the hospital.
Henderson Engineers provided design services for the new 25-bed, two-story hospital that included a three-phase, four-wire electrical system with five automatic transfer switches and a diesel generator to power the new facility. Our design included everything from high-efficiency, air-cooled chillers, dedicated DX rooftop units with hot water heat for operating suites, and medical gas piping, to technology network systems with connection to St. Luke’s Central Technology Campus. These systems support the emergency department, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, radiology department, labor and delivery, as well as physical therapy and a specialty clinic. The one-story medical office building was designed as an outpatient clinic to offer additional services and care.
As the only Joint Commission accredited hospital in north-central Missouri, the new hospital and adjacent medical office building fulfills a community need by providing emergency and outpatient care to patients who would otherwise need to drive long distances. Positively impacting quality of life; we really like that.
