Cambridge Tower A - The University of Kansas Health System Cambridge Tower A - The University of Kansas Health System

Providing world-class care and academia for more than 100 years, The University of Kansas Health System is devoted to serving the community. A testament to this is their recent investment towards Cambridge Tower A. The inpatient tower stands 11 stories tall and provides the hospital with 11 new surgical suites and 92 patient beds. It houses oncology, neuroscience, and ear nose & throat practices.

The Cambridge Tower A project included many elements of sustainability. It was purposefully designed to evolve with ever changing technological advances, healthcare requirements, patient standards, and more through adaptable, flexible, and expandable environments.

Focused on helping The University of Kansas Health System achieve this, Henderson Engineers coordinated across multiple authorities having jurisdiction to provide a final comprehensive set of code and life safety plans. We also took part in the Joint Commission extension survey that occurred shortly after the facility started seeing patients.

Henderson has been the health system’s primary provider of fire and life safety services for more than a decade, serving as a resource on additions, remodels, and day-to-day hospital operations. Because of this long-standing relationship, Henderson was able to pull together the data necessary to help the University complete the joint commission extension survey. Building on our long-standing partnership, we were honored to aid the University of Kansas Health System in the ground-up expansion of the hospital.
