Henderson Engineers provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design services for this 48,000 SF city hall and 15,000 SF police facility. The city hall is a 2-story building with a council chambers, one-stop shop, and governmental office and administration functions. The council chambers is equipped with an audio-video system that sends out live feeds to cable television, electronic voting, newsroom studio, and a small private chambers for private council member meetings. The police facility includes juvenile and adult holding cells, high density evidence storage, hazardous evidence storage, mobile command center, and police command office operations. The HVAC system utilizes high-efficiency, variable-volume roof-mounted units with variable air volume boxes with electric reheat. 90% of the exterior lighting utilizes LED light fixtures. The lighting layout is based on architectural datum lines to follow the building lines and architectural elements. The emergency power distribution system utilized one diesel powered generator to serve both the city hall and police facility. The holding cells utilized minimum security level light fixtures and air distribution devices.
In addition Henderson developed the Maricopa Design Guidelines to establish standards for future building projects.
