With a long-standing history spanning 100 years, St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor has been dedicated to serving patients through people-centered care since their founding. In order to continue meeting the needs of their community, plans for a new cancer center at Ann Arbor were made.

Connected to an adjacent 2-story structure, an extension of the building’s systems was required. The entire building was then renovated to include all new mechanical, plumbing, and electrical services while maintaining the main electrical, chilled water, steam, and medical gas services. Infusion bays, conference space, an atrium, general examination spaces, and a USP 797/800-compliant pharmacy were included in the project. The process to become USP 797/800 compliant can be daunting, but with hundreds of these projects under our belt, we were able to successfully walk the owner through the process.

As an established and trusted partner, Henderson Engineers was chosen by the owner directly and provided multiple initial assessments for planning and design implementation prior to the project being awarded to the architect and contractor.
