For the fifth consecutive year, Henderson Engineers participated in Harvesters’ Canstruction Kansas City, and the team’s exemplary work on the 50th anniversary Apollo 11 structure was profiled in a Kansas City Star video. Henderson Acoustical Consultant Kevin Butler, PE, was interviewed in the piece after playing a pivotal role in the design and creation of the ‘Supporting KC to the Moon & Back’ capsule.
Like any of Henderson’s work, Butler and his teammates provided a precise design to create the structure. For the second straight year, Henderson won the ‘Most Cans’ award after using 7,320 cans of black beans, red beans, corn, and green beans.
Henderson is committed to all the communities its employees live and work in, and provides 16 paid volunteering hours to all 750-plus employees each year.
Canstruction is a competition between teams of Kansas City engineers, architects, and contractors to design structures consisting of canned foods. The structures are on display at Oak Park Mall through the month of February to raise awareness for hunger and then all of the food is donated to the Harvesters Community Food Network for hungry families, children, and seniors in the KC community.
