Annual Junior Engineering Day Covered by 41 Action News in KC

Henderson’s third annual Junior Engineering Day was featured on 41 Action News/KSHB in Kansas City. President and CEO Rich Smith and Vice President Julie Pierce showed reporter Jordan Betts around the event. Students from more than 20 school districts throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area were exposed to hands-on demonstrations designed to inspire them to become interested in STEAM and potential careers in the industry. The stations kids participated in from various disciplines are outlined below.

  • Mechanical — “Unicorn Snot”
  • Plumbing — “Henderson Engineers’ Hydro Home Slice”
  • Refrigeration — “Refrigeration Station”
  • Sustainability — “H2 (Oh No)”
  • Technology — “Lasers”
  • Architecture (BRR) — “It’s a Buildable Day in the Neighborhood”
  • Contractor (Turner Construction) — “Creating Your Toolbox”
  • Structural (Wallace Engineering) — “Fun with Foundations”

Along with Henderson, BRR Architecture, Wallace Engineering, and Turner Construction sponsored the event that was held at Manual Career and Technical Center in partnership with Kansas City (Mo.) Public Schools.
