Plumbing Technical Director | Associate
Devoted to his alma mater, Mike Monthey loves cheering on the Wildcats and brings that same tenacity into work every single day. Mike joined Henderson Engineers as a sustainable plumbing designer in 2009 and says the work environment is what has kept him here all these years. His focus on quality engineering stems from his experience covering a wide range of projects including healthcare, venue, education, workplace, retail, restaurant, grocery, and civic along with his early career in construction. His exposure to the field side has shaped the way he designs fire protection, plumbing, and HVAC systems as he understands the importance of constructability and quality control.
In 2016, Mike became Henderson's first plumbing technical leader, a role dedicated to developing our staff through internal fundamental training, creating technical tools geared towards efficiency, and enforcing standards of care for our documents. This evolved into his current role as a plumbing technical director and an associate where he'll continue to improve our design processes and methodologies companywide. His soft skills and ability to articulate items in conflict during the design process proves to be valuable time and again as it allows everyone to grow and be better. He also improves the plumbing discipline outside of our walls as an active member of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers, most recently serving as the Kansas City Chapter President.
