COURSE OVERVIEW

An overview of sports architecture trends that are leading to increases in performance — particularly in the areas of energy and water. This presentation will describe current trends and provide case studies demonstrating how these strategies and technologies are making sports stadia even more efficient while increasing the fan experience.

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  1. Identify recent trends in stadia and arena design that are leading to higher performance buildings.

  2. Understand how stadia and arenas uniquely consume raw materials and energy resources compared to other building types.

  3. Describe limitations to the design and how energy goals must be balanced with event experience goals.

  4. Compare, contrast and understand several recent case studies of high—performance sports structures.
