COURSE OVERVIEW

The purpose of this presentation is to examine the most recent version of the 2013 Triennial Edition of the Title 24 California Energy Code and in particular, the parts that most affect architects: building envelope, solar-ready buildings, commissioning, lighting and power requirements, and CAL Green. This presentation will contrast the 2013 version with the previous versions and identify changes to scope, mandatory measures and prescriptive requirements.

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  1. Review history and scope of the Title 24 energy code and prescriptive vs. performance compliance paths.
  2. Discuss updated envelope, air barrier, and fenestration requirements.
  3. Explore how the new solar-ready building requirements and daylighting requirements affect design and construction.
  4. Understand the commissioning and CALGreen requirements.
